MARIMEKKO CELEBRATES OPENING OF VINTAGE POP-UP WITH JENNY WALTON DURING NYFW

Creative Director Rebekka Bay and Illustrator Jenny Walton Co-Curated A Selection of Vintage Pieces from 70+ Years of Marimekko History

WHAT: Finnish design house Marimekko partnered with designer, illustrator and self-proclaimed vintage shopping extraordinaire Jenny Walton to curate a selection of archival pieces that reflect the brand’s penchant for bold prints and joyful colors for a Marimekko Vintage Pop-Up. The shop will be open to the public during New York Fashion Week through Friday, February 16th. 

Featuring a range of covetable, heirloom-quality pieces from the past seven decades – this collection spotlights the brand’s expertise in the art of printmaking. Please find a selection of images featuring a few of the key pieces as styled by Jenny Walton HERE.

WHO: Creative Director Rebekka Bay and collaborator Jenny Walton welcomed over 250 ​ guests to the Marimekko Vintage Pop-Up for a VIP cocktail event DJ music by Bec Adams of Les Filles. Finnish lifestyle design brand Marimekko is renowned for its joyful dresses that combine a contemporary feeling with timelessness. This summer, the lifestyle design house highlights the Marimekko Marimini, an archival A-line minidress that first captured attention in the 1960s when Jackie Kennedy wore the silhouette on the cover of Sports Illustrated. According to sources of the time, Kennedy bought at least seven Marimekko dresses, which brought wide recognition to the bold and joyful designs.
