Marimekko at Copenhagen Fashion Week: Fall/Winter 2025 Collection
Marimekko Debuts FW25 Ready-to-Wear Collection with a Celebration of Color and Modernist Design
On Wednesday, January 30th, Marimekko unveiled its highly anticipated Fall/Winter 2025 collection at Copenhagen Fashion Week in a striking runway presentation set inside the historic Vilhelm Lauritzen Terminal at Copenhagen Airport. The show explored the interplay between light and dark, with a striking contrast of monochromatic winter tones and unexpected bursts of joyful color.
The venue, originally designed by renowned Danish architect Vilhelm Lauritzen in the 1930s, provided an atmospheric backdrop for the show while guests enjoyed a live soundscape from Danish musician Mikkel Hess.
Marimekko’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection plays with the dynamic contrast of deep, wintry hues - cinnamon, cocoa brown, spruce green, and rich greys - against vibrant tones of scarlet red, blush pink, spearmint, and rich purple. This joyful interplay of color lies at the core of Marimekko’s ethos, where dressing becomes an art form and the garment serves as a canvas for creative expression.
The collection’s hero print, Tumma by Maija Isola (1970), appears throughout the collection in a range of styles and expressions, demonstrating how timeless prints work equally well in monochromatic shades and daring color combinations. Alongside bold prints, the collection features a rich array of textures, including bouclé, mouliné, crisp cotton, and soft wool, applied to pleated woven dresses, chunky knitwear, denim, and outerwear.
"Marimekko’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection explores the dialogue between light and dark, with color providing an interjection of joy," says Rebekka Bay, Creative Director at Marimekko. "The Vilhelm Lauritzen terminal felt like the perfect backdrop for the dualism that we play with this season, but it also reflects the modernist and functionalist design thinking that Marimekko has always embraced. We are extremely honored to have been able to welcome our guests to this iconic and private Copenhagen landmark and celebrate Marimekko’s art of printmaking inside this architectural masterpiece."
Throughout 2025, Marimekko continues to explore the overarching conceptual theme, The Anatomy of a Flower, which highlights lesser-known floral prints from the brand’s archive, blending heritage designs with contemporary reinterpretations.
