Marimekko Announces Pre-Spring 2025 Home Collection
For the Pre-Spring 2025 home collection, Finnish lifestyle design house Marimekko starts to celebrate its over-arching conceptual theme for the year 2025: The Anatomy of a Flower. While the year 2024 marked the 60th anniversary of Marimekko’s single most recognized floral Unikko print, the Pre-Spring collection begins an exploration of an entire series of floral and botanical subjects from Marimekko’s print archive, which are accompanied by entirely new designs.
In the first collection of the Anatomy of a Flower collection series, Marimekko celebrates spring in bud. The collection features delicate tones of green, blush pink and hues of blue that are reminiscent of the first glimpses of the joyous spring skies. The first drop of 2025 includes a wide assortment of bed and bath products that act as an invitation to recharge at home in the beginning of the year: these include a Unikko-shaped bathmat in a gentle rose tone, calming blue bed sheets in the striped Piccolo brush print, and a two-toned bedspread carrying the Unikko pattern on each side.
New glass vases by Carina Seth Andersson
The Pre-Spring 2025 collection adds two new vases to Marimekko’s timeless glass assortment. Marimekko has continued to work with the renowned Swedish independent designer Carina Seth Andersson, whose distinctive aesthetic is not unfamiliar for Marimekko. For Pre-Spring 2025, Marimekko presents the new Pokaali and Säkki vases. The design follows Andersson’s earlier designs for Marimekko, which include Urna, Umpu, Flower and Mini vases.
Seasonal prints & colors
To celebrate Marimekko’s relationship with floral and botanical subjects, the collection features prints from Marimekko’s archive from designers, such as Fujiwo Ishimoto, Katsuji Wakisaka, Maija Louekari and Maija Isola. The collection introduces new designs by Maija Louekari and Aino-Maija Metsola, which showcase fascinating watercolor techniques and line drawings. Hero prints in the collection include Selänne by Fujiwo Ishimoto (2003), Green Green by Katsuji Wakisaka (1975), Unikko Häivähdys by Maija Isola in 1964 & Emma Isola (2004), Siirtolapuutarha by Maija Louekari (2009), Valssi by Aino-Maija Metsola (2023) and Kukat Puhkeavat by Maija Louekari (2023) among others.
Collection materials
For the Pre-Spring 2025 collection, Marimekko continues to work with organic and recycled materials to reduce the number of conventional materials used in its collections. For instance, all towels, bathrobes and bathmats in the collection are made from 100 percent organic cotton, the new shower curtains are made of 100 percent recycled polyester, and the Piccolo-printed duvet cover and pillowcase include 25 percent recycled cotton and 75 percent organic cotton.
